More Bentleeisms

My computer is seeing it's last days and I've been afraid to get on here because I don't want it to die for good. But Bentlee has been so darn cute lately and I have to write some of these things down before I forget.

She's now 21 months and already saying and doing more than before. My latest favorite is that she calls any adult male "guy", and when we're out in public you can bet that she waves and yells "hi guy!" to every one that walks by. Last week we stopped at the Wiggin's and when she saw Uncle Chuck through the window she pointed and said, "Guy!" We went over there a few days later and the first thing she asked was, "Where Lisa?" And a minute later, "Where kitty?" And when she had no luck finding them she asked me, "Where guy?" I just about died. And then a little while later she wandered into the kitchen and asked "Where cookie?" Aunt Lisa always has cookies at her house. :)

We saw Frozen while we were in Michigan and I made the mistake by playing some of the songs on YouTube a week or so ago. Now, every day Bentlee goes over to the computer and asks for "Elsa?!" I can't resist. But I'm a little bummed because I'm almost sick of "Do you want to build a snowman" and I've only seen the movie once!

Last night we went to dinner and Bentlee purposefully kept wiping her dirty hands on me and saying "Nice." It took me a second to understand why, and then I realized that I probably say that a lot when when she get stuff on me. She is always taking up by surprise whether it's saying new things, or doing things out of the ordinary. About 6 weeks ago she accidentally turned the shower on while taking a bath and since then has been absolutely terrified of baths. We've only been bathing her a few times a week because it is heart wrenching to hear her cry and beg to "be a baby" which means she wants to be wrapped and cradled in a towel. We tried everything from new bath toys to getting in the tub with her. Randomly the other night we asked if she wanted to take a bath and she told us yes. The rest of the week has been smooth sailing, and then this morning she actually climbed in the tub WITH her diaper and pj's on because she was too impatient to wait for it to fill up. Needless to say, I think she is over that fear!

Helping dad

There are a many times we give her credit for things where credit may or may not be due. Case in point: the other day she asked for wawa and I clarified, "wawa or milk?" to which she replied, "bose." I was like, "Bose? As in both?" She answered, "Yeah." I was like you want wawa AND milk?" She said, "Yeah!"

Last Sunday I was trying to get her dressed for church. When I told her where we were going she immediately asked "Bompa? Abby?" She totally understood that going to church  meant we were also going to Bompa's house later on. Last night on our way home from dinner she was grumpy so we were trying to cheer her up by telling her that tomorrow we're going to Bompa's house and we were naming everyone that she was going to get to see (she repeated everyone's names-our favorite is "Yiya" (Lyla)). But we confused the poor girl because when we pulled into our driveway she started crying, "Bompa. Abbbyyyy." Oops. I guess she doesn't quite have her days down after all.

The other day I sat down to fold some laundry and she asked, "help me?" She also doesn't understand my sarcasm when I tell her she's helpful. :)

My favorite, favorite thing she does these days is tell us stories. It started at dinner one night and now it's more of a game to her because she loves our reaction. She starts her stories by stuttering, "An...an...an..an..and then jabbers and then ends with a laugh, complete with head throwing and all. It's hilarious and I don't understand how kids know to be funny like that.

Our other favorite thing is her interpretation of what a kitty says. She scrunches up her whole face, almost like she's sad and gives the whiniest, "Noooowwwww" or "Nooooooo". She has all of her animals sounds down and we just started working on colors. The other day we were trying to keep her busy while we were playing a game so I gave her a deck of cards that were 4 different colors. I made 4 piles of blue, green, orange, and yellow and then told her to match the colors and she matched the entire deck. We were surprised because that's the first time she's done anything like that. A few different times she did the wrong color and I would start to tell her it was wrong and she'd quickly switch it to the right color. It's so fun to watch her learn.

I have like 6 adorable videos I want to post and it's not working. Maybe someday I'll have the patience to keep trying.
